Overcoming challenges

The brief, and how we landed it

The challenge

The hotel stayed open during renovation, so furniture could only land floor by floor against the contractor's handover dates — no on-site storage was available. The owner's budget had been cut 18% after the first tender round. Humidity and salt air at the waterfront site ruled out several specified finishes.

How we delivered

We re-planned production into six floor-matched waves, each packed as room-by-room kits so the local crew could clear a floor in three days. Finishes were re-tested for tropical conditions and swapped to marine-grade lacquer systems. Each wave shipped with labelled room plans, hardware kits, and a remote support channel for the installation team.

Value engineering on this project

Headboard panels were redesigned from solid timber to a veneered torsion-box construction, cutting weight 40% and cost 22% with no visible change. Standardising desk and wardrobe carcasses across three room types let us batch-produce instead of running three separate lines. We consolidated two container types into one optimised loading plan, saving six container slots across the programme.
